Ya just can’t do Noo Yawk in a cupla hundred words and 20 photos, so here’s some more …
On sunday night we went to the Top of the Rock (with 500 or more others) …
Let the images speak …
It was fun …
That’s the new Freedom Tower reflecting the sunset in the distance.
Next morning, and we’re off on the bus again. This time down-town.
Past the Empire State …
And the stunning Flat Iron building …
Along jammed streets …
… past endless pretty, old buildings (this one clad in cast iron!)
Hop off at the Brooklyn Bridge and walk to the middle … (thinking of the tens of thousands who escaped across here on 9/11)
Then to the heart of downtown … past City Hall (you can’t beat it, or get in to it! – (see below)) … and past the ornate F W Woolworth building.
… and so, to the bustling World Trade Center. Two of the planned seven new buildings are open for business …
… and the memorial is certainly quite magnificent …
Time for a break at O’Hara’s Pub … (right adjacent to the WTC, it took major damage on 9/11).
Then to Wall Street …
Hmmmm … the throbbing heart of the free world of capital, and you’re not allowed near the NYSE … fences, bollards, cops and security everywhere … WTF?
I wonder would George W approve? He was inaugurated first President right here.
Then a key Noo Yawk highlight for me … a NY Reuben from a genuine NY deli … YUM … (Jan, who doesn’t like them usually, ate most of my share!)
Lotsa souvenirs to buy, then back on the bus.
Past Battery Point Park … still a shambles after Hurricane Sandy (how many years ago was that?) and past the Towers again.
Back in mid-town we got a bit distracted walking back to the ship … but that’s another whole story in itself … suffice to say we eventually rushed and got a NY taxi cab and were last but one back on the ship for night time sail away …
How good was that? … methinks highlight number 2 … WOW

Absolutely stunning photos and a great virtual tour – thank you. PS George Washington may well have approved of the protection around NYSE. He is estimated to have been the richest man in the United States when he was inaugurated the 1st President. Money equals power started early over there!

Hello – so good to see you had a FABULOUS time in NYC. I agreed with everything you said and one visit is never enough in that GREAT city. Hope you also managed to savour a Pepperoni Pizza. I can just see Jan in the ‘Sex and the City’ Central Park ride with her Mr Big … hilarious

Noo Yark certainly has the WOW factor. Pictures of the WTC very moving. Amazed at how much you fitted into two days!
