Visiting the Lillywhites …

Here’s the news from Napier New Zealand … home to the finest collection of Art Deco buildings in one place in the world …

… and also home to Colin and Toni Lillywhite and their kids Ava, 7 and Christopher, 5. Toni and Colin are in Paris today (sigh!), so Grandma Lillywhite and Aunty Lynette are over from Australia to babysit for a couple of weeks. The weather turned today – cold, and rain later, but we had a fabulous day anyway, thanks to our wonderful hosts.

The kids ran in the park and then clowned with Jan outside the old Gentleman’s Club.

Then Jan found this gorgeous Art Deco building (used to be the AMP) …

But what’s inside? … an opportunity for Jan to educate Ava on the finer things in life, of course! (spot them both on the middle here …)

Then Ava showed us her Daddy’s beautiful Art Deco office building.

Then up the hill to home for a warm soup for lunch … afterwards Nana Nailpolish had to do her thing while Christopher showed us his “moves”

A great day had by all, on one when a cozy warm home is all you need …

A nice change of pace for your travels. I have been thinking how better to reach 88 destinations around the world – cities, towns, regions, historic sites, man-made and natural wonders – all by stepping in and out of the same (floating) hotel. What a good plan!
